The ash was not washed but the water was changed 3 times after mixing. Some of the glazes were mixed with a kitchen sieve with large holes, and gave interesting speckles. Some were mixed with an 80 mesh sieve Firing was done to 1260c with no soak, in an electric kiln on a pale stoneware clay. Gloves and masks must be used as the ash is caustic when mixed with water and the dust shouldn't be inhaled. Thanks to Hermine Sammut for the ash glaze photos |
