Biography

After studying Art and Ceramics in England, I married and came to live on the small Island of Malta. This has been my home for the last 37 years.

Two children and many years later, I set up my pottery 'The Pot Studio' in the town of Msida, close to the University of Malta. Having taught pottery as an extra activity in a private school I now give adult classes from my studio. Sometimes I get other potters to come and give a talk and demos, and now and again we have saw dust  firings. The more education there is, the more people will appreciate hand made pottery.

It is inspiring to help others achieve their aims in making things in clay, often to a high artistic level.

I have taken part in many group  exhibitions in Malta and one in America and Egypt

I am first and foremost a 'pot' person enjoying throwing and coiling vessels, although I am lately producing more sculptural pieces. I am constantly amazed at just how many different faces clay has. It can be a bowl, teapot, wall plaque, sculpture, necklace...... All depending on how I feel today!

The Maltese Neolithic Temples ( the oldest free standing buildings in the world )

Texture, colour and patterns interest me. I am inspired by the weathered sandstone and vibrant blues of the sea and sky. The Maltese Temples, have been a  focus for my last few exhibitions. The spiral, (of which there are many variations in the Temples here) I see it as a symbol of energy and creativity. It feels familiar to me, and invariably finds its way into my ceramics.
